What to expect: Via Ferrata adventure
Created in the mountains of Europe, the Via Ferrata is a system of cables and metal rung ladders that helped World War 1 soldiers navigate through the Alps rather than the lengthier time it would take to go around them, accessing Austria, Hungary and Italy!
You will be connected to our Via Ferrata trek cable for an exhilarating climbing activity through spectacular mountain terrain on a guided tour under the close supervision of our helpful and experienced guides. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you around limestone cliffs and mountain paths both along the ground, and up high along cliff faces above the canyon floor. Upon reaching the end of your Via Ferrata trek, you’ll enjoy the trip back on our Frontier Canyon Zip Lines, toping off your adventure and flying along the canyon and cliff faces, enjoying the Rocky Mountains like never before!
Our course is geared toward the inexperienced climber and our safety equipment is Priority One! Each climber will be provided with the proper equipment: a specially designed Via Ferrata climbing harness system, helmet and gloves. This tour is an unforgettable Colorado experience that will challenge and give you a unique perspective and feeling of great accomplishment! See why Via Ferratas are becoming so popular!
As far as what to wear, closed toed shoes that cannot fall off your feet are required. Sandals, high heels, flip flops, Crocs, etc. will not be allowed. Tennis type sport/cross training shoes are fine. Sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. Also, wear either shorts or pants as skirts cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the harnesses.
- The Via Ferrata Canyon Tours with the Frontier Canyon Zip Lines will last about 3 1/2 hours and are about 1 mile in length combined.
- The Frontier Zip Lines are included in the Via Ferrata Tour!
- Participants must be between 48″ - 82" inches tall, weigh between 80 & 250 pounds, and securely fit the harnesses.
- Paricipants must be ages 9 and up. Guests 9-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Participants must wear shorts or long pants, and comfortable closed toed shoes with good traction.

“Via Ferrata” is an Italian term meaning “iron path.” It refers to a protected climbing route featuring steel cables, iron rungs, and ladders fixed to rock faces, allowing adventurers to safely traverse steep terrain with a harness and carabiners.

Our Via Ferrata route, an adventure that is part hiking and part climbing, is about 3-1/2 hours from the starting to end of the Frontier Canyon Zip Lines.
Please wear tennis type sport/cross training shoes, however, sturdy hiking/climbing footwear is recommended. Please also wear long pants or shorts. Skirts cannot be accommodated due to the nature of the harnesses.
Yes! You’ll get to experience jaw-dropping views from the thrill of our zip lines at the end of the Via Ferrata tour.
