There are three current grades:

Ordinary Member (including members of clubs which are affiliated)

Note: Membership falls due at the start of the calender year but is normally payed at the SUICRO symposium on the October Bank Holiday Weekend. Payment made at this time is valid from the first of January the following year.

 

Student Club Member ( a member of an recognised Student Club), This grade of membership is designed for the University or College caver. The current subscription being 10euro per year payable direct to the SUI membership secretary.

Student Club membership is only open to current registered College or University students who are members of a bona fidae Caving Club. A Student Club is recognised by SUI once it operates under the rules of a constitution and has a minimum of 10 members.

Benefits of this Student membership include:

  • Access to SUI courses
  • Regular newsletters to your club secretary
  • Third Party Insurance
  • Opportunity to have a voted representative member on the SUI Committee ( Student Liason Officer)
  • Opportunity to upgrade to Ordinary Member
  • Access through your Club Secretary to the SUI Library

Junior Club Member ( a member of a recognised Junior Club), This grade of membership is designed for the secondary school based caver. The current subscription being 1euro per year (stg£1) payable direct to the membership secretary.

Junior Club membership is only open to current registered Secondary School students who are members of a bona fidae Caving Club. A Junior Club is recognised by SUI once it is registered by a secondary school teacher and has a minimum of 10 members. Normally, Junior Clubs should cave with a BCL qualified leader.

  • Opportunity to have a voted representative member on the SUI Committee ( Student Liason Officer)
  • Third Party Insurance
  • Access through your teacher to the SUI Library

>Administration
SUI is administered by an elected committee. It comprises a Chairman, a Secretary, a Treasurer and 5 committee members. Other people are co-opted onto the committee to serve in specific roles such as training and conservation. All members of the committee are unpaid and carry out their work for SUI in their own time. The AGM is held each October at the organisation's Annual Symposium held in one of Ireland's caving districts.
